Research & Academic Writing Portfolio:
Examples of research and academic writing work I have completed for previous clients.
Client: Rotherham Minster
Date: April 2025
Overview: In support of Rotherham Minster's efforts as a community hub tackling socioeconomic barriers faced by the local community, and to promote Rotherham Minster's Development Fund, I spearheaded the production of Tiny Monks & Saxon Coffins: The Historical Secrets of Rotherham Minster.
I conducted extensive research into the history of the church in order to write the video script.
I also collaborated with members of staff to coordinate access to areas of the building which are usually off-limits to, and therefore rarely seen by, the general public in order to bring the unique and little-known history of Rotherham Minster to light.
I oversaw videography and video production, conducted by James Young, to ensure high production value.
Client: Hillingdon Museums & Archive
Date: December 2023
Overview: I supported the Archivist at Hillingdon Museums & Archives, Sarah Harrison, by conducting research and producing this booklet, The Twelve Herbs of Christmas, for a festive event at Eastcote House Gardens, in Pinner, northwest London. The event included a talk on the history of the stately home, its kitchen garden, and the various herbs and spices now popular in festive cooking.
I used digitised medieval scrolls and illuminated manuscripts to collate historical recipes using herbs and spices grown within the walled kitchen garden of Eastcote House.
I also used secondary sources to trace the origins, medicinal uses, and other historical information about these select festive seasonings.
Client: Hillingdon Museums & Archive
Date: January 2023
Overview: I supported the Archivist of Hillingdon Museums & Archive, Sarah Harrison, in tracing the history of specific suburbs and addresses within the London Borough of Hillingdon, previously areas of Middlesex. The research predominantly focused on the various uses of buildings from their construction - usually in the early 20th century - to the modern day.
This research heavily relied on census records and digitised newspapers to create a timeline of individual addresses. I also used both primary and secondary sources such as governmental documents, articles, and books to gather general historical information about the area's development.
I also promoted public engagement through local social media groups. I made requests from group members for vintage photographs and local stories (used with permission).

Inclusive Management Practices for Employment of Journalists with Disabilities.
Client: Agam Shah
Date: August 2023
Overview: I assisted this client with their research and writing of this white paper on implementing inclusive management practices in the employment of disabled journalists globally.
The article highlights multilateral barriers for disabled journalists, notably physical restrictions related to field work or strict in-office work policies, or barriers related to gaining and retaining work due to employers' limited disability awareness, preconceptions, or lack of inclusive work infrastructure.
This article relied on current statistics, national legislation from the UK, U.S.A., and Canada, and research conducted by key stakeholders such as the U.S. Department of Labour, the UK Department for Work and Pensions, the BBC, the National Union of Journalists, and the International Labour Organization.
