Discover Darton.

Local Fun in Darton

Les Cadeaux is a casual pottery painting and craft space offering party packages and workshops suitable for all ages. Adults can even bring their own booze and a takeaway to Les Cadeaux’s Saturday night sessions! The shop is located on Church Street and visitors are required to book in advance as spaces fill fast.

Darton Darby & Joan is a social club founded in 1954 to provide a range of leisure activities in the interest of social welfare. They have a busy calendar of weekly social activities, such as coffee meet-ups, wellbeing advice groups run by charity partners, exercise classes, and even a theatre group for primary school children!

Darton’s Great Outdoors

Oddwood & Co., located on Upper Field Lane, is the UK’s only Woodland Escape game. Visitors have 60 minutes to complete brain-teasing challenges with the help of their teammates. Oddwood & Co. is an independent family-run business whose games are specially designed in-house to be fun and accessible to all – you can even bring the dog!

Darton Park sits at the heart of the village, and is a central point for families to relax or burn some energy. The park includes a standard children’s play area kitted out with swings, slides, and climbing equipment of varying sizes. For sports fans, Darton Park has an enclosed hard court suitable for basketball or 5-a-side football. Darton Park also has a community tennis court available. The purpose-built skatepark is perfect for practicing kickturns and ollies. These amenities are set within a pleasantly sizable greenspace dotted with old-growth trees, perfect for family picnics.

Dining in Darton

Despite its small size, there are several notable eateries in Darton which are worth a visit.

Darton Coffee House is an independent coffee shop serving up great drinks and delicious gluten free treats. They proudly bake all their treats in their on-site kitchen everyday, so everything is fresh. They even use coffee beans from local roasters Forge Coffee Roasters Sheffield.

May’s Thai Takeaway is one of the highest rated food establishments in Darton. Locals have enjoyed May’s wide range of traditional Thai dishes since 2021. Don’t be fooled by the name – you can dine-in at May’s Thai Takeaway, too.

For a quick bite, Whykes Sandwich Shop offers hot and cold sandwiches, pies, and many other homemade treats of outstanding quality. Locals praise Whykes Sandwich Shop for its great service, tender hot roast sandwiches, and delicious pork pies – proper Yorkshire scran!

Final Thoughts

With its local businesses and community focused social spaces, Darton offers a taste of Yorkshire village life. West Yorkshire’s bigger cities are just a stone’s throw away, making Darton convenient for commuters and day trippers.
